These are a few of my favorite things...
I hope you have all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, filled with family and friends and love. I know that this holiday is more difficult for some each year because of loss and tragedy, but it’s always important that we’re able to find the joy and blessings, even in the hard seasons. Sometimes that’s just easier said than done, right?
For our family, I’m missing my grandmother who passed away last month. There are just soooooo many things that remind me of her in everyday life. But most of all, I just miss seeing her sitting in her chair with all of us and getting to talk to her. I’m really glad that I was able to be with family this week though, as there was lots of talking and reminiscing of her memories. It was beautiful. In the midst of hard seasons, we were able to find some joy, and I pray that you have been able to find some too.
When life doesn’t go according to your plans, how are you able to still find purpose in it? How are you able to still love your life and celebrate your wins? I’d love to hear from you, and I’d love to know how I can be praying for you in this season as well.
I just finished a new blog post detailing pretty much all of my Amazon purchases from this year, and it sure was fun for me to put together! With the addition of my Organization business this year, I’ve been able to afford and do some more organization in my own home as well, and it’s been So Much Fun for me! I hope you enjoy this post and maybe you can get some good ideas and inspiration for your own home as well!
Too soon to be thinking about post-Christmas home organization?? Well, maybe… but not for me. I’m opening up my books, and starting to fill spaces for your home organization projects! I’m So Excited, and can’t wait to organize your space for you!!
**Remember that it takes a few weeks for product to come in so you might want to schedule a consult with me in December in order to get your space organized in the month of January.
Hey, I’m a real person, and I share things just for the fun of it — no paid partnerships at this time. I’m just sharing what we get in the mail because it’s just fun to see what others are doing sometimes isn’t it? And why not?!
So here’s a new, fun feature called What’s in the Mail where I’m literally going to share with you things I’ve ordered and received recently… just for fun! Here goes!
I feel like this could also count as a bit of a *Life Update* because “You are what you buy” or something like that… You can definitely tell a lot about a person just by seeing the things they spend their money on, right?
Well… here’s the deal. I found out recently that I have a sensitivity to gluten and most likely, also dairy. My doctor recommended that I detox/cleanse for a week and then eliminate those two from my diet for 4-6 weeks. So that’s what I’ve been doing. Honestly, I think the whole attempt at saving money on groceries with meal prepping is what helped me realize the sensitivity. I was doing The Blood Type diet before which was, for me, gluten free. Then, I added back in a ton of processed foods all at once and my skin freaked out. So basically, I guess you could say that I’ve already done an elimination diet for gluten before, but obviously we realize the sensitivity there. So anyway - there’s never a good time to do a diet like this so I started it officially the week before Thanksgiving. And I successfully made it work - even with traveling and being away from home. I’m super proud of myself and tooting my own horn here, celebrating all the wins - big and small. Hehe. This is the detox / cleanse that my doctor recommended for me, and I HIGHLY recommend it to you as well if you’re looking for something post-holiday. It’s very gentle, and I feel great!
Here are my most recent latest Amazon purchases:
1.Jovial Gluten-Free Pasta - This was a recommended brand from my new favorite podcast (also recommended to me by my doctor, lol). I told Justin I had a podcast for us to listen to when we travelled last month, and he was like “Oh boy”, but yall - he loved it too. He was nodding his head in agreement the entire time. See, he listens to his own podcasts, does his own research, follows his own people… but I think it’s really cool that we still are in agreement with most beliefs of “Functional Medicine”, etc. And now we’ve found a podcast we can enjoy together regarding this topic.
Fair Warning: The Barretts are about to get even more “crunchy” in the next year. Hehe!
2.OXO Tot 2-in-1 Go Potty in Gray and Potty Liners, Disposable Refills - I guess you can probably guess from this purchase what’s about to go down here in our household as well! I just learned about the disposable refills for potty seats, and I’m real excited that I can just throw something away instead of having to wash it out every single time because that’s exhausting. (Yeah, this is the one area that I’m definitely NOT “green”. I’m not touching poop, if I can help it. Confession: I’m the mom who throws out the underwear if a kid has an accident in them.)
3.Nespresso Vertuoline Iced - This is our latest favorite Nespresso flavor, but we drink it hot and iced. I’m actually not doing coffee every day anymore, but Justin has been, and it’s nice to have when company comes. I love being able to fix up my fancy coffees for friends and family when they visit.
4.Casafield 50 Velvet Baby Hangers in Pink - Layten was recently given a whole bag of dress up clothes, and she was thrilled! We grabbed another set of hangers so we can just hang all of her new princess dresses with her regular clothes.
5. Pefei Tweezers Set - I lost my tweezers that I had with my makeup so I grabbed this set that was recommended by some influencer at some point or another.
6. Flora - Ferritin - This was another doctor-recommended supplement for me with my low iron and ferritin. We’re checking my levels after a month, and hopefully it will help. I have lots of issues related to my low iron, and it’s super annoying.
7. Redmond Real Salt , Seeking Health Magnesium Malate
, and NOW Supplements Potassium - I’ve been working to get off of my artificially sweetened and flavored water packets (just Great Value brand - Wild Strawberry has been a fave for years) but that’s a lot of aspartame I was taking in on a regular basis. I’ve successfully been able to eliminate these from my diet, begun drinking a gallon of water a day fairly easily, but then I learned that it really doesn’t matter how much water you drink if you aren’t adding electrolytes back in… so I grabbed the components for this mix to add to my water. Honestly it was awful. So I tried to add in some fruits and monk fruit sweetener, without much success. I realize this is an awful review, but at least it’s an honest one. My brother-in-law had some LMNT packets that he let me try and that is the winning ticket that I will be ordering soon. I also really like Liquid IV packets as well. Both were also recommended by my doctor as well so that may just be the way to go.
