Purposeful Places, Projects, & Goals
As promised, here’s Part 2 of this week’s email newsletter. It’s the fun one with all the pictures and projects and goals. ;-)
Habits I’m Tracking & Working On This Week…
Daily Protein Shake
This is one of my Nutrition “Action-Based Goals”. I like to add my vitamins to my shake. This is the easiest way for me to get them in.
Workouts
This one has probably been the easiest for me to track, because I’ve only done one actual workout in the month of February. I’m not at all guilting myself about that though. I’ve been doing a lot of “heavy-lifting” with my new job. I try to work really fast too, especially when I’m making trips to and from the car with items I’m decluttering and new items I’ve bought for the space I’m working in. I’m trying to be more conscious of little things I can fit in here and there like some simple bicep curls and things with my grocery bags, etc. Yes, I’m semi-joking… but this is my way of giving myself grace and celebrating those teeny-weeny efforts and calling them wins.
Progessence Plus
This is an essential oil blend that helps with hormonal support. As with most supplements and things we take, we don’t always notice a difference when we “start” taking them, but we notice what a huge difference they made if we “stop” taking them. I feel like this is one of the things that really helped my skin actually. My skin really cleared up, and I wasn’t having near as much acne. I noticed that I was having flare-ups again, and realized I hadn’t been taking it so I am trying to be more purposeful with taking it again.
Skincare
I’m, honestly, not so great at keeping up with skincare and washing my face… which is probably also another reason my skin isn’t always clear. I’m just a little lazy in this area, honestly, so I want to track it to encourage myself to do it.
Brushing my Hair Every Evening
I follow Jasmine Rae on Instagram, and I’ve been trying her methods from her 20 Day Wash Cycle. I’ve learned how to adequately brush my hair to stimulate the follicles, how to care for it post-workout, and how to keep it clean between washes.Continue reading and note-taking through a book I got for Christmas, Switch on Your Brain by Dr. Caroline Leaf.
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but it was actually Dr. Caroline Leaf’s methods that helped me “fight” my way through depression a couple years ago. I took notes from what she said in an interview with Stephen Furtick, and I basically guessed at how to do this, but I applied those principles using scripture.
These are the steps I wrote down from that interview…
1.Gather Awareness
2. Ask Answer Discuss
3. Write it down
4. Make an action plan for the day
5. Revelation
She says things in this book like “Science is finally catching up with the Bible”, and I LOVE how she shares the way that God designed our brains to function and work. I’ll be sharing some of this soon. But it truly helped me to use scripture as a tool in my life to fight through my depression. I’m reading through the book now to gain even more insight, and I’m really hopeful that it will be able to help me with my anxiety as well. I love practical tools that focus on the Bible and teach us to rely on God and let Him be our helper and teacher who heals, changes, and ultimately transforms us into new creations.Continue reading through my Bible reading plan.
I’m using The Bible Recap’s chronological reading plan from Year 2. I started this plan at the beginning of 2020, and I took time off from it to study other applicable things throughout the year like the studies I did on Fear and Anxiety. I keep coming back to it in between, though, and every time I just do the next day’s reading and podcast episode and keep chugging along. Some would consider me to be “behind” on the reading plan, and that may be true, but I still find that God’s Word is so very timely to what I need each and every time I read and study it. I’ve outlined the days that I want to complete over the next few months before I begin Bible Roadtrip Year 2 (Job through Malachai) with my children for homeschool. I’m hoping that we can read and study together, and I’ll be able to incorporate The Bible Recap episodes as a great supplement for our studies. I’m excited to get back to the Bible Roadtrip with them soon though, because I feel like teaching them HOW to study God’s Word is SUCH a vital skill to learn… and it will be very beneficial to them, even at such a young age. The Bible Roadtrip is very age-appropriate (From Preschool all the way to High School or Adult), but it teaches Bible Study skills, and I can’t rave about it enough!Get 2020 taxes together and submitted.
I’ve basically gotten everything together, and it took me a VERY SHORT TIME THIS YEAR, actually because I’ve been doing my book-keeping and monthly organization to maintain everything throughout the year.
I want to share more about this soon. I never realized how good my system was until I started duplicating it for someone else (my home office project). I have no idea where I learned this stuff. I think it was just a problem in my own life that I’ve worked to problem-solve. I don’t have to struggle and sort through paper-clutter every year. I’ve learned to toss what’s unimportant. I don’t spend my time having to file and organize those things that I know I’m not going to need. I have a good method for keeping track of the things I do, though. Everything has a place, and that is an amazing feeling! It made a normally, pretty daunting task, such as “taxes”, actually a breeze this year!Continue to figure out the best Work/Life balance.
This job is still new. It’s still a guessing game. I NEVER ANTICIPATED that it would actually take off the way that it has. I recently simplified my overall home routine when it comes to homeschooling and housekeeping. I’m still working on that. Then, I added in a new job, and we started sports practices again. I’m very aware of my priorities (and what I ideally want them to be), and I’m consciously working right now to keep them in check and fit everything in as I’m able to. Add in the anxiety and withdrawals from medicine, and that has not been an easy feat. I will take all of the prayers for me to figure this all out. I’m determined. I know that I’m an over-comer, and God has given me all of these things - there IS a way to manage it all and manage it well. There is a balance, if I create it. ;-)
Home Office & Craft Storage Organization for a Client
In-Home Consult this week for Decluttering, Design, & Organization
Proposal for a new, out-of-town client (I’m pretty excited about the opportunity to travel for this job, and I’m thinking through how I can include my kids in on the fun and do some extra fun things with them as well.)
Optimizing the functionality & efficiency in my kitchen (especially with the pantry and food storage, currently)
Completing our Master Bed & Bathroom Design Plan, one thing at a time, as our budget allows
My Living Room Design Plan (which I’m trying really hard to wait on until I finish the other projects, but I am SO EXCITED to work on it as our budget allows us to. I’m thankful for my new business that allows me to prioritize some of these things that have been on the back-burner for quite some time now but that I’ve always been passionate about.)
